Gus Cummins is a member of 'The London Group' and was elected 'Royal Academician' (RA) in 1992. He has won numerous prizes and has work in collections in the UK, Europe and the USA. He has taught at several art colleges, principally at Chelsea College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. He was born in London in 1943 and lives in Hastings.
Gus Cummins's first solo exhibition was held at the Gardener Arts Centre, Brighton in 1991. He exhibits each year at the Royal Academy and his work has been exhibited widely throughout the UK, in public and private galleries and museums, including the Mall Galleries, the National Portrait Gallery, the Festival Hall, Camden and Battersea Arts Centres and the Royal Academy. Most recently, he was included in the 2012 'RA Now' (Anish Kapoor to Zaha Hadid) exhibition and the London Group Centenary (Pitzhanger Manor), 2013. He has also exhibited internationally in the USA, the United Arab Emirates, Norway, Holland and Ireland. He has sat on many Selection Panels at the Royal Academy and also for the Discerning Eye (Mall Gallery).
